Maddie honored with ARCS Fellowship

Madison Wood’s exciting research proposal–to reconstruct global carbon cycle perturbations using the novel stable strontium isotope proxy record measured on pelagic barite that accumulate in deep sea sediments–has been selected by the ARCS Foundation from national entries . Excellent work and well deserved. Congratulations Maddie!

Also, if you are looking for a teaser of Maddie’s work plan, listen carefully to her narrating the long-term carbon cycle …

Apply Now: PhD opportunity

I am looking to recruit a PhD student to work on seawater carbonate chemistry modeling and reconstruction of past changes in ocean acidity and atmospheric CO2. This project is aimed to improve our understanding of the role of the global carbon cycle in driving past climates. Please contact me for more details; general info on the UCSC graduate program in Earth and Planetary Sciences, and details on the application process.

The application deadline is January 3rd 2021 and the start date is Fall 2021.

Arrived at UC Santa Cruz

This summer I moved with my family from England to California to start a faculty position at UCSC Earth and Planetary Sciences. I am looking to build a research group that uses computational methods to reconstruct and quantify global carbon and nutrient cycling across Earth History. Please get in touch if you are interested PhD opportunities in my lab.
